FAQ

Chances are, you’re looking to improve your fitness and to feel comfortable, confident and strong in your body, ultimately, your life. We’re here for it! As dynamic as each one of us are, so are our goals. Our offerings cover a broad range of styles:

BalanceHIIT is a signature class integrating ALL of Sarah’s varied movement studies which provide a stress-balanced, high intensity workout.

Barre for more “burn” and focused intensity

Dance Cardio to get heart rates up through the joy of dancing/ 10% going to seasonal community support/ Music provided by Bandcamp artists.

Pilates for more grounding, movement fundamentals

Sarah is your guide and encourages you to maintain your sense of autonomy throughout our sessions. Move how you want to move; with mindfulness and respect toward yourself and the others in the space. We welcome your intuition, exploration and relative improvisation in our time together.

We remember the other bodies in the space are on different journeys and comprised of different terrain and maps. Staying present within your work simply provides a deeper practice in general.

We operate on a Sliding Scale financial model.

MUSIC PROVIDED BY TIDAL WITH EXCEPTION TO DANCE CARDIO WHICH PURCHASES MUSIC TRACKS FROM BANDCAMP.

We aren’t entering shared spaces to hyper-criticize or set unrealistic/unhealthy standards or expectations. ‘Perfectionism’ is not a thing. We aren’t punitive in attitude or approach. We aren’t FORCING anything. This doesn’t mean we won’t meet or encourage challenge, or that we won’t enjoy some wholesome competition. But, moving through it will be a personal negotiation as well as a good time. If you know something doesn’t work for you or something doesn’t feel right, skip it for the day!

You wanna feel good, and Sarah is the expert you’ve been waiting for. It’s her experience and belief that through a greater connection to our physical bodies we can create a more peaceful, micro-sphere that radiates through the world at large. Movement, and how we access it, can transcend in more ways than one.

“I heartily recommend working with Sarah! She was my favorite Barre teacher at my gym, and I was so pleased to see that she was teaching on her own once those online gym classes stopped. I’d taken up running again last year when the gyms closed, but it injured my knee and so I’ve only been doing Pliates the past couple of months. Sarah is fantastic about working to understand specific injuries and suggesting adjustments, as well as explaining what is going on with the body and giving prompts during exercises. Working with her helped me to understand an unhelpful physical pattern I’d been in my whole life (and which very likely contributed to my injury), and has given me the physical strength and references to correct it. BUT, my favorite thing about the classes is their energy! Exercise classes so often feel a bit sadistic, like you have to punish yourself to feel good afterwards. These classes do get hard, but always start with a warmup that connects you to your body, and that remains the overall focus throughout. By the time the harder work comes, it feels like a natural extension of what you’ve been doing, and if you need to modify or take a break there is no judgement about that. Sarah’s energy is very warm, inclusive and positive. My body has changed, I’m much stronger, and even though I haven’t been doing any cardio, my pants do fit better 🙂 – but the best part is having rediscovered a joy in movement. I actively look forward to classes instead of feeling like I have to get through them. Plus the music is really good!”– Devon Banks

“I am VERY picky about who I train and move with; after a past with disordered exercise I’ve noticed how rare it is to find a professional with a holistic approach to growing strength and stamina. Sarah’s classes are a truly safe space for me, where I’m encouraged to expand my assumptions about what movement I can find joy and progress in while still listening to my body first and foremost. My favorite is Balance HIIT, which gets me sweating, relaxed and mentally balanced all in the same session – I’ve never experienced another class like it.”– Davie Kaufman

“I have always been a big girl, Even as a little girl. It was all in my mind of course, as that is how body dysmorphia works. Once I began to focus on how I was feeling and not what I looked like I searched for places were I could feel safe and comfortable to engage my physical. There is no place I have found more loving, organic, supportive or thoughtful then with Sarah. Move to Listen has taught me so much, but most importantly Ive learned that I can manipulate how I feel physically and mentally. It’s respite for people like me who don’t know how to start a health journey without being cheesy, or self indulgent. Fitness folks sometimes take themselves so seriously but Sarah is knowledgeable, funny, patient, kind and always present for you as a teacher. There is a sense of growth and progress after every session. Most importantly..she LISTENS and now, so do I. Let’s Move!!!!” -Aduni Lemieux: Dance Cardio enthusiast with a minor in Pilates Mat
